How to find cheap flights and deals

Wondering how to always find the cheapest flights?

These days, we have Flight Search Engines, and the convenienceof buying flights online with the airlines has opened up an entirely new world of choice.

Flying can be expensive if you don’t know how to book cheap flights. The price of airline tickets is actually increasing as companies merge and fuel costs rise.

Finding cheap flights can be a pain, especially with endless search options, comparison websites and constant fluctuating prices. It can end up being a frustrating process when it should be fun!

Here’s how to find the cheapest flights to anywhere in the world.

  • Know the best time to book cheap flights

We typically suggest booking when you see a great fare 1-3 months in advance for domestic flights and 2-8 months in advance for international flights.

In case you’re booking for peak summer, include a month or two onto these offers, and in case you’re going during low season it’s more likely cheap flights will spring up nearer to the departure date.

Prices will in general jump in the last month or two before takeoff, so you would prefer not to cut it excessively close.

On the other hand, in case you book too soon and settle for a not exceptional fare, you’re passing up potential future deals. Obviously, in case you’re looking to travel around major holidays like Christmas and New Year’s or during peak summer, include a month or two on those recommendations.

Fly budget carriers

Years ago, if you needed to travel between continents, you were often stabbed with common expensive airlines. That’s no longer true. Budget airlines now service many long-haul routes, making it possible to travel around the world for affordable fares. Norwegian Airlines allows you to fly between Europe and Bangkok for about $250 each way. AirAsia offers crazy-cheap deals around Asia and Australia for as little as $100 each way. Indian and Middle Eastern airlines offer cheap flights throughout the subcontinent and Africa. You can fly most of the way around the world on a budget airline!

Here is a list of the biggest budget airlines in the Middle East:

Air Arabia.
Flydubai.
Jazeera Airways.
Sama.
Nas Air.
Bahrain Air.
Air Asia X.
Onur Air.

Flying the low fare airlines is a good alternative to flying “the majors” whenever possible. You get fewer perks, but you can save a bundle in price.

Just be sure to watch out for fees. That’s how they make money! Budget airlines sometimes charge fees for checked bags, carry-ons, printing your boarding pass, using a credit card, and anything else they can get away with. Be sure to add up the cost of the ticket AND the fees to make sure that the price is lower than a larger carrier.

Look for tickets in other currencies

If your country’s currency is currently stronger compared to others around the world, search airfare in a country where the currency is lower. For instance, the US dollar is strong and the Egyptian currency is weak. I found a one-way flight from Cairo to NYC for $1,000 USD but when I searched on the Cairo version of the airline, I found the same ticket for $900 USD. It’s the same airline, same flight, and the same class. It was just booked in a different currency.

(Tip Note: Always use a no-foreign-transaction-fee card to avoid paying a surcharge.)

It Doesn’t Worth to Wait

If you know where you want to go and when to flight, then searched and found the cheapest flights but wait, someone has told you if you wait and book at the last minute the flights will be cheaper. Don’t do it, it’s a myth amigo!

Very unusually do flights get cheaper closer to the flight date, if anything, they are likely to get more costly. This is primarily the same for ALL modes of transport. If you have found the cheapest deal and you are not flexible, book it, now! Booking ahead is likely to always be cheaper than booking last minute.
